History

My fascination with soap in it's purest, healthiest form began 10 years ago on a road trip through Zion's National Park with my husband (boyfriend at the time, if we're being frank). At a small roadside stand I purchased my first bar of organic, healthy, artisan soap and literally relished in the scent. My husband suffers from extremely dry skin and he benefited greatly from the soap. Out of curiousity I began researching soap, it's history, it's current trend and original recipes. I dabbled after that for about 8 years out of pure interest in the art of making of soap.

Then my son came, and through a series of circumstances, happenstances and prayer I found that he could not tolerate cow milk, rice milk or soy milk. Walking through the store for ideas, any ideas, I glanced over and saw goat milk. I had heard of goat milk before, but was not familiar with it's nutrional properties. I was desperate, I bought it, and my son drank it and slept through the night. This was where my fascination with Goat Milk started! I dug up my initial research on soap and soap making and toyed around with the idea of making my own Goat Milk soap recipe, trying many formulations before settling on a perfect ingredients.

I also dug into my community and found a local farm with the hightest quality pasture-fed raw goat milk. After a time, the farm asked me to help out with milking the goats. At the same time, I made the jump and formulated my own soap recipe with the hightest quality ingredients.

My strategy is simple.....keep it simple, that is.

Here is my ingredient list for my soap:

17 oz Coconut Oil
30 oz Olive Oil
10 oz Safflower or Sunflower Oil

8 oz Sodium Hydroxide
16 oz Raw Goat Milk

THAT'S IT!

If you are interested in purchasing some of my high quality product, please send a email to milkmaidensoap@gmail.com with scent prefrences. And I will send you payment information. The price is $5.00/bar. The bars are artisan cut and weigh between 7-8 oz each, which is twice the size of commerical soap.
